Safety Policy

Dateagent is a planning tool for dates with people you already know — there's no swiping, no matching, and no messaging with strangers. That design choice removes some of the risks of typical dating apps. It doesn't remove them all. Real dates involve real people, and your safety comes first.

1. What Dateagent does — and doesn't — do

We do not conduct criminal-background checks, identity verification, or any other screening of users or guests. We make no representations about anyone's identity, history, or intentions. Even where screening tools exist in the industry, they are imperfect: records are incomplete, people misrepresent themselves, and a clean check is not a guarantee of safety. Do not rely on the presence of a Dateagent invitation — or anything in a profile — as evidence that a person is safe.

What we do provide:

  • Reporting — anyone, including guests without accounts, can report an invitation, RSVP, or profile from inside the app or by emailing [email protected]. We act promptly on objectionable-content and abuse reports, prioritizing safety.
  • Blocking — you can block other registered users in the app, and blocking is enforced: while signed in, a blocked user can no longer open your invitations or datemenu, and their RSVPs are rejected. Blocking is silent — the blocked person is never notified. Hosts can also block a guest who responded: if the guest shared a phone number, future RSVPs from that number are rejected and their existing responses disappear from your lists; either way, the invite link they used is deactivated. Manage and undo blocks in Settings → Blocked Users. Because guests don't need accounts, link control (below) remains the broadest cut-off for anonymous visitors.
  • Link controls — hosts can deactivate any invite link — or all of them — or hide their datemenu with one toggle. Deactivating a link immediately cuts off access for everyone holding it.
  • Law-enforcement cooperation — see our Law Enforcement Guidelines. In emergencies involving imminent harm, we prioritize expedited responses.

2. Before the date

  • Know who you're inviting. Dateagent works best — and safest — with people you've actually met or verified through mutual connections. Be cautious with anyone you know only online.
  • Video-chat first if you haven't met in person.
  • Do your own research. A name, a reverse image search, and mutual friends can reveal a lot.
  • Keep your details private. Your datemenu shows what you choose to show. Don't put your home address in a venue or bio field. Share your phone number only when you're comfortable — RSVPs work without it.
  • Watch for red flags: refusing to video-chat or meet in public, pushing for your address, love-bombing, inconsistent stories, and any request for money. Never send money or share financial details with someone you're dating — that's the #1 pattern in romance scams. Report it to us and to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov.

3. During the date

  • Meet in public for first dates — the venue ideas in Dateagent are built around going out, not staying in.
  • Tell a friend where you're going, with whom, and when you expect to be back. Share your live location with someone you trust.
  • Control your own transportation — arrive and leave on your own terms.
  • Watch your drink, and know your limits.
  • Trust your instincts. If something feels off, leave. You never owe anyone your continued presence, and you can end a date at any time. Consent matters at every step — and it can be withdrawn at any time.

4. If something goes wrong

  1. If you're in danger, call 911 (or your local emergency number) first. Dateagent is not an emergency service.
  2. Get somewhere safe.
  3. Report it to us — in-app or at [email protected]. We act promptly on reports, and we cooperate with law enforcement investigations of serious harm.
  4. Preserve evidence — screenshots, messages, and the invitation link help both law enforcement and our team.

Harassment or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity is prohibited and enforced under our Community Guidelines. LGBTQ+ users: be aware that outing someone without their consent is a serious violation of our rules. Plan with your own comfort and local context in mind.

6. Adults only

Dateagent is strictly 18+. Content or conduct involving minors is prohibited and leads to content removal and account termination; where we have actual knowledge of apparent child sexual exploitation, we report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement as required by law.
